When God Moves...

February 02, 2009

I just got back from our high school winter retreat. As I write this I am filtering through the emotions of investing so much for our students only to realize that everything we have will never be enough to change the course of their lives. That is God’s responsibility. It is more hopeful than my attempts.

Here are a few hopeful thoughts that inspire me to continue to work toward this ministry.

The greatest miracle which God performs is his communication with humanity. Listen to this. ? 8? But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The Holy Bible : New International Version. 1996, c1984 . Zondervan: Grand Rapids

The word “Demonstrates” can be translated “Communicated”. Here is how I see this miracle. God, who is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient and pre-existent. He has taken the truths concerning Himself and spoken them through humans who are imperfect, temporary, sinful with limited intellect. These men, then recorded God’s truth with papyrus and reed, using words that cannot communicate eternal value. We, as flawed humans, carrying baggage which can distort truth with limited intellect read these words. God takes those eternal and supernatural concepts and truths and reveals them to the depths of our being. We understand it. That is a miracle.

He did that this weekend again. Kids responded to a message from God. In order to understand how big a miracle that is try to imagine moving to China and trying to understand a simple statement. Here we are, not only understanding eternal communications but applying them to our lives.

Each day I should remind myself, that today God is moving. My role, according to Henry Blackaby, is to identify where He is moving and join in His movement.

Good hope.
